In a shocking incident from Puducherry (Pondicherry), 3 Muslim auto drivers out of a total of 15 suspects have been arrested for raping 4 minor girls. According to the report which appeared in the Tamil daily “Dinamalar”, the 4 minor girls were raped by the 3 auto drivers and 12 others after locking them inside a house.
When the complaint was received by the department of women and child development, the 4 girls were rescued with the help of Odiyansalai police. Further, it is said that some people from Tamil Nadu are also involved in this shocking incident along with the 3 arrested from Puducherry. The case has been transferred to CB-CID. The 3 accused – Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Ghani and Mustafa from Kottukuppam, Puducherry – have been arrested by the CB-CID and are currently kept at Kalapet Central Jail.
Suspected involvement of 15 people
3 girls out of the 4 victims gave their statement in the presence of a Magistrate. It has been found from their statements that 15 people are involved in this horrific crime. Only 3 accused have been arrested and the CB-CID have rushed to Tamil Nadu for arresting the other 12 who are suspected to be involved in this case.
This incident has a chilling similarity to the abduction and gang rape of a 21-year old woman on Christmas Eve 2013 in Karaikal, an enclave of Puducherry. The 9 people arrested in that case for gang-rape were identified as T Mohamed Irfan, 20, M Abdul Kasim, 21, S Mohamed Amir Ali, 22, Faisal, A Akbar Ali, 22, M Mohamed Yusuf, 23, S Mufaith, 23, A Abdul Nasar, 43, ‘Brunei’ Ajeesh – all hailing from Karaikal.
