Director S.S. Rajamouli’s war epic Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has smashed all box office records to become India’s top grossing film in just six days. The film has made a worldwide gross of Rs792 crore, according to trade website Box Office India.

Baahubali 2 beat Aamir Khan’s PK (2014) and Dangal (2016) to take the top spot in the list of highest grossing Indian films. The two blockbusters had earned Rs743 crore and Rs718 crore worldwide respectively. The Hindi version of the film, which was presented by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and independent distributor Anil Thadani’s AA Films, has alone notched up Rs375 crore.

“There are certain films that acquire cult status over a period of time,” said film trade and business expert Girish Johar. “The inquisitiveness sustained over two years, the scale and size of release this time and the love the film has got has taken it to that level.”
