Congress party found itself in a spot over the condolence message it had tweeted, after veteran Bollywood actor Sridevi died on Saturday night, in Dubai.
The message, in the official twitter handle of the Congress party at about 10. 20 am today, read – “We regret to hear about the passing away of Sridevi. A legend who will continue to live in our hearts through her stellar body of work. Our deepest condolence to her loved ones. She was awarded the Padma Shri by the UPA govt in 2013.
After immediate backlash on the social media, circling the portion which read “She was awarded the Padma Shri by the UPA govt in 2013”, the party deleted the post and as a damage control, posted a series of messages praising her “stellar” body of work.

Good that you deleted the tweet with the objectionable "UPA gave her Padma Shri" nonsense. Would have been better if you had apologised.
