The authorities in a Kerala school have decided to classify students based on their excellence. While ‘smart’ students are asked to wear white uniforms, the ‘weaker’ ones have to wear red-striped shirts. Such segregation could lead to a massive mental stress in the students at an impressionable age.
Speaking to TIMES NOW, the school principal said that this system was introduced to inculcate a sense of competition in the students and was done for the student’s benefit.
He also said that the uniforms were not based on class performance but on co-curricular performance and other activities.
Activist Kancha Ilaiah slammed the move and said that it could prove to be harmful to the students.
