India’s top-ranked chess player Pentala Harikrishna will tie the knot with Nadja, who herself is a chess player from Serbia, on March 3, 2018 at 8:07 pm at Novotel Hyderabad.
Harikrishna and Nadja have known each other from the days of junior-level tournaments. They both were first friends and then slowly their friendship turned into love. The champions have decided to take their relationship to the next level with the consent of their families.
Harikrishna’s father Nageswararao has confirmed the news. The invitations have already gone to prominent politicians and celebrities.
The 31-year-old, who hails from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, became the youngest chess Grandmaster from India in 2001, a record now held by Parimarjan Negi. He had a meteoric rise in his career, becoming Commonwealth champion in 2001, World junior champion in 2004 and Asian individual champion in 2011.
He represented India at seven Chess Olympiads from 2000 to 2012 and won team bronze at the World Team Chess Championships in 2010. At the Asian Team Championships, Harikrishna has one gold and two silver in team events and an individual bronze medal.
