Anupam Kher has been appointed as the chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), replacing Gajendra Chauhan. Prior to joining the FTII as its chairman, Kher has also held the chairman’s post in the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and National School of Drama (NSD). He is also the chairman of the acclaimed acting school ‘Actor Prepares.’
The Padma Shri (2004) and Padma Bhushan (2016) awardee actor has more than 500 movies and several plays in his repertoire. FTII is India’s premier film and television institute, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
Guys, Anupam Kher asFTII Chairman is a good choice. He has a great body of work
(Also be thankful that he wasn't appointed the RBI governor)

Kejriwal ji should have been appointed as the new FTII chairman, afterall he is far better actor than Anupam Kher.

500+ films, 30+ Awards, 35+ years of work experience yet Anupam Kher became chairman of FTII because his wife is MP ~ Liberal Logic.

Why is media after Anupam Kher's wife being a BJP MP? It's irrelevant. Kher has done more than 500 films and his work speaks for him. #FTII

Great to see #AnupamKher as FTII chairman. Unlike erstwhile CBFC chief Leela Samson, this is not a political appointment 😉

We aren't going to have 2 months of FTII again on news channels, are we? #AnupamKher
