Karnataka Power Minister DK Shivakumar was raided by the Income Tax department, he said on Saturday that he will not let his party down and that the truth will surface soon.

The owner of the Eagleton Golf resort, who was hosting Congress Gujarat MLAs, in Bengaluru apologized to the legislators for the harassment they had to face and thanked them for standing by him in this time of crisis.

“Would like to thank leaders across the country who stood by me in the crisis,” he said.

“I am going to a temple now, then to the resort where our MLAs are waiting. Will talk to you (media) later,” he added.

Income Tax raids were conducted at 39 places, including the residence of Karnataka Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and at a private resort owned by Shivakumar near Bengaluru where 44 Congress lawmakers from Gujarat have been staying since last Saturday.

A total of 39 premises of Karnataka minister Shivakumar and his family are being raided by a team of about 120 Income Tax Department officials with the aid of central paramilitary forces, they said.

“As per rule they can’t bring CRPF, it is purely a politically motivated move, shows the mentality of BJP,” he said. “If they have info about irregularities, they have the right.But they are doing with political intention, it is a political vendetta,” he added.
