An event that shook the Nawada city of Bihar last Wednesday saw two communities getting involved in a violent clash after one of the communities allegedly tore down the poster of a Shobha Yatra marking the auspicious event of Ram Navami.
The violent outburst took place in Sadbhavna Chowk and as the fight intensified, riots and assaults took place in plenty. The local BJP MP Giriraj Singh had to intervene to put a stop to this shocking event.
Some anti-social people also got involved and started pelting stones and also set some shops on fire. The event was protested against at the NH31. The administration had to step in to control the situation at the highway and keep the place clear of all traffic jam.
Because of the stone-pelting incident, a large number of vehicles were stranded on NH-31 and nearby state highway, the SDO said.
To control the situation, District Magistrate Manoj Kumar and Superintendent of Police Vikas Varman rushed to the spot with police reinforcement and dispersed the mob, he said.
Senior district officials also visited the NH-31 to restore law and order in the area, Kumar said, adding that the situation was brought under control.
After getting informed of the event, Union Minister Giriraj Singh along with the top cops reached there and took the entire matter in their hands.
