West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has once again hit out at the BJP alleging that the saffron party had undertaken a paid social media campaign to malign her image.
Speaking on the occasion of Trinamool Congress organisational polls held in Kolkata on Thursday, Mamata said BJP was spending crores to tarnish her image using the social media.
“BJP is spending crores to run social media campaigns against me. They post fake photos and twist my words. We must confront them strongly,” she told party men at the event.
“They have spread canards that I eat beef! But what I eat is my choice. They are liars spreading canards over social media,” Mamata said, after being re-elected as the chairperson of All India Trinamool Congress.
Referring to the BJP protest in Puri during her visit to the Lord Jagannath temple earlier this week, Mamata said, “They are carrying out a malicious propaganda. Wherever I go, London, Puri or Delhi, they send workers to disrupt (my visit).”
At a time the two senior Trinamool Congress MPs like Sudip Bandopadhyay and Tapas Pal are behind bars in connection with the chit fund scam and many more likely to face CBI summons over the Narada sting case, Mamata dared the BJP to put all her party leaders in jail.
