Ram Mandir : Asaduddin Owaisi mocks Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s offer to mediate on Ayodhya issue

The president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday dismissed Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s offer of mediation in the long-standing Ayodhya issue and said that the spiritual leader is no authority in this matter.

Owaisi said that people who do not even know how to spell the word “Mughal” are today portraying themselves as their (Mughal) close associates.

“AIMPLB has clearly stated that they will not accept any such offer, he (Sri Sri Ravi Shankar) should not indulge in any kite flying,” he said.

He also asked Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to first pay the fine imposed by the National Green Tribunal last year and then think of talking about peace.

“He is not going to receive a Nobel Prize for his offer (of mediation),” he said.

In 2016, the NGT had imposed Rs 5 crore fine on Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s The Art of Living foundation for damaging the Yamuna bed in the capital after it organized a three-day event.

The criticism came following reports that the The Art of Living founder is interested in facilitating a settlement of the Ayodhya issue.

On Monday, Sri Sri while speaking to media announced that he will be going to Ayodhya day after tomorrow— “I would be going to Ayodhya day after tomorrow, so far all talks have been positive,” he said.

Late last month, the founder of The Art of Living had expressed his desire to mediate in the long-standing Ayodhya issue. Prompting the chairman of the Shia Waqf Board Waseem Rizwi to hold a meeting with Ravi Shankar at his Bengaluru centre.
