Video: Karnataka Bypoll, Women Congress President Caught On Camera Distributing Money

Lakshmi Hebbalkar accused of distributing money during campaign. KPCC women’s wing president Lakshmi Hebbalkar caught giving money to volunteers in Gundlupet

The video comes days after BJP’s K S Eshwarappa alleged that the Congress was paying Rs 4,000 per voter in assembly constituencies of Gundlupet and Nanjangud where bypolls are scheduled to be held on April 9. Eshwarappa had alleged that D K Shivakumar was distributing money to voters in violation of the model code of conduct.

Hebbalkar is not new to controversies. The chief of Congress’ women’s wing president was raided by the Income Tax department on January 19, earlier this year. Officials of the IT department raided Hebbalkar’s Belagavi residence. Residences and offices of her brothers Ramesh Jarkiholi, Lakhan Jarkiholi and their aides were also raided. The Congress had defended Habbalkar and deemed the IT raids ‘questionable with only Congress leaders being on the radar’.
