According to mythology, Raja Ramarayanam was then the Zamindar of the Gorasa near Samalkot Since the Lord ordained him in his dream. He then traced the idol on the hillside, worshipped, and installed it at this spot on Sravanasuddhavidiya during the Telugu year Khara 1891. On the top of the hill, the Annavaram Satyanarayana temple was constructed, and devotees can see the Bay of Bengal from here at a distance of 11 miles. Four hundred sixty stone steps lead to the hilltop.
