Despite CCTV proof, Hardik Patel maintains he did not meet Rahul Gandhi at Ahmedabad hotel

Patidar leader Hardik Patel, who has been spearheading a movement in Gujarat for reservation for the Patel community, on Tuesday reiterated his stand that he did not meet Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi at a luxury hotel in Ahmedabad on Monday.

Speaking exclusively to Times Now, Hardik wondered how a CCTV footage from the five-star hotel got leaked to the media.

“It’s not a big deal who I met at the hotel. One this is clear that I did not meet any terrorist,” Hardik told Times Now. “I still maintain that I met (AICC General Secretary in-charge of Gujarat) Ashok Gehlot ji, not Rahul Gandhi. The day I will meet Rahul ji, I will announce it publicly,” the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader added.

“If one day I stay in a hotel where Nawaz Sharif is also staying, that doesn’t mean I met with Sharif,” he said further mockingly.

CCTV footage had shown Patel entering the hotel late Sunday night and leaving on Monday after Rahul Gandhi had checked in there.

Attacking the ruling BJP, Hardik said the party had been fooling people for two years.

He also hinted that he would support the Congress in the upcoming elections as the latter was ready to give an assurance on providing reservation to the Patel commun

Patel also slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party for dubbing him an “agent” of the Congress. “Those who say I am an agent of Congress are in fact the agent of BJP. I do not bother what BJP leaders say,” he separately said in a tweet.

Earlier, at a public meeting in Mandal in north Gujarat, Patel said, “If BJP is amahachor, the Congress is a chor. And if a chor’s help is needed to trounce amahachor, we will do that also.”
