Sadhath Khan, a conman extorted money and sexual favours from 100 women

A man, who duped over 100 women by posing as a central government employee on various matrimonial websites, was arrested by the Bagalur police on June 21.

The information gathered by the police up on interrogating him has revealed that he has duped over 100 women by creating fake profiles on matrimonial sites.

According to the Bagalur Police, Sadhath Khan alias Preetham Kumar, targeted divorcee and widowed women on matrimonial sites.

“He had created profiles on various matrimonial websites and posed as a central government employee. He expressed interest in marrying them. He would sexually harass them and later extort money from them,” the Bagalur Police said.

Police traced Sadhath Khan only after a professor of a private college in Bengaluru filed a complaint alleging that he had tried to extort Rs 58 lakh from her after sexually assaulting her.

“His modus operandi was to target women who were divorced or widowed and promise to marry them. He would use the funds extorted from one woman to lease lavish apartments in the city and also rent out an expensive car for a period of three months,” the police added.

He would take them out to expensive restaurants and also shower gifts on them to make them believe that he truly wanted to marry them.

“He would use them for sexual favours. After his arrest, many women have come forward and filed complaints against him. During the investigation, it was also revealed that similar cases have been filed against him in KR Puram, Jayanagar, Vidhyaranyapuram, Hebbagodi, Doddaballapura and Dharwad Suburban Police Stations,” the police added.

Sadhath is from Hassan and police investigation revealed that he had a strained relationship with his father, who did not allow him to stay at home in Hassan due to his habit of excessive drinking.

He came to Bengaluru in 2011, when he broke away with his father and began working in a welding shop in Yeshwantpur. Later, he worked as a telecaller at Koramangala Country Club, a company named Sarco in Hebbal and Alsec, located on MG Road.

Police said that Sadhath was fired from his jobs after the female staff raised complaints of sexual harassment.

The Bagalur Police have booked him under sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 354 (punishment for sexual harassment), 392 (punishment for robbery), 384 (punishment for extortion), 420 (punishment for cheating) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).
